I might be being dense but the manual does not make it very clear to me,
particularly in terms of where the pipe should be relative to the arm.
should it exit over the brachial artery? Is the pipe exit an indication of
the centre of the bladder?

any simply understood description would be much appreciated.

also is it ok to leave the pipe connected between readings?

Yes.
