Hi I recently had open heart surgery to have a lave replaced, with a
mechanical one, and was wondering how long it would take for me to be
pain free, It has been 17 days since my operation and I am still
experiencing pain around the chest area, I also get sever headaches
with the pain, is it common to get headaches with the pain? When I take
the painkillers no pain or headaches, but the problem is I only have
enough painkillers to last me anohter week, is it possible for me to be
painfree and headache free by then? Also I tend to get some hot flushes
now and then, and quite sweaty when sleeping sometimes, is this common
with this type of surgery? Many thanks

Two weeks is a short time and I assume you will being in contact with
your surgeon.  Cardiologist visits  coming soon too.  Write  or document
how you feel.

I had a bout of night sweats  after cabg 9/14/01  just a few episodes
but it sacred me.  None since but chest  gets my attention mostly in
early AM still.

Headaches  and  your surgery may be related.  Darn mortality pops up
into our consciousness.   Thinking of passing can afford doing more with
what we still have.   "Always look at the bright side of life "   Monty
Python.

I am loath to take pain meds  but sometimes it is a must.  I had some
in hospital that enabled the walls to vibrate but was able to get by
with Tylenol with Codeine  when in hospital.   My acute  pain passed
quickly but a subtle pain persists still.  Just me...who knows you may
wake up tomorrow pain free.  I hope so!

Hot flushes remind me of early  Niacin  ingestion.  Passed real quick
for me.
