Can we please just have a truce?

Is there any way we can have a truce on this group of the pro-Christian
and the anti-Christian viewpoints? So far neither side has won any
converts in this war, and the messages keep escalating in terms that
now I cannot read the group page at home for fear that my son will walk
in and read what is being written.

I know I might be in the minority here based on the numbers of
postings, but I would assume that a sci.med.cardiology would focus on
the science and medicine of cardiology, and not on the preacher
child-molesters or the coming apocalypse.

Is there anyway to put this pot on simmer? Or any other solution?

No, there is no way to control the posting behavior of others.  But you
can ignore it, most effectively with the use of your kill filters and
delete key.

See above.  I am blissfully unaware of the posts you complain about
until someone like you posts about them.  :-)

Do yourself a favor and fill your kill files chock full of zealots,
trolls and vigilante responders.

Any reader you would recommend? I am using google groups as my reader,
and cannot find a kill file feature.

I haven't experience with many, but I use mozilla Thunderbird.  It's
free, the kill files aren't foolproof, but that's what delete is for.
Lots of folks use forte free agent, or agent and like it a lot. I think
Outlook may have one, too.

Another thing you may be unfamiliar with is the convention of quoting
the snippet from another poster you're replying to, and putting your
response just below it.  This way, anyone can follow the conversation
and know what you're replying to.

This also may depend on your Internet Service Provider. I use Outlook Express.
But that is only because my ISP provides Newsgroups. (SBC and Verizon do, MSN
and AOL do not.) I also subscribe to news.individual.net that provides
newsgroup access for about $14/yr with no binaries. It works with Outlook
Express and I'm sure many other readers. There are many other independent
newsgroup providers.

Yes, I also subscribe to the German newsreader, subscribing through
Mozilla Thunderbird.

Agent ($29) is super, and the free version, "Free Agent" is quite good. You
can use it only for newsgroups and ignore its email feature.

See http://www.forteinc.com/agent/index.php

It's still a bit annoying to have to keep adding people to your kill file,
but it makes the group a much different one than the worthless one that
appears when you access sci.med.cardiology from Google.

I intend to come back after the apocalypse maybe in a few months after
the dust has settled.

I like you have to try and find the one post about cardiology among the many
unrelated topics.
You will never get rid of these posts because they serve some psychological
need by some who believe that if they don't mention God in every posts then
they will burn in hell and in those people who, if you tell them not to
think of pink elephants, then can not ignore pink elephants everywhere.
Aberrant behavior does not have a logical solution because it is not logical
in origin.

Prayer.  Only the LORD can change the hearts of men (and women).

P.S. This evening's chat featured special guest, Dr. Leslie Dauphin,
from the CDC and author of the Germ Handbook, on the special topic of
the H5N1 Avian Flu virus.  My apologies to those who may have missed
this.

Yes, tell Andrew B Chung to shut the f.ck up. He started the xposting
to alt.atheism.

Sorry my posts bother you so terribly.  The truth has this effect on
the untruthful.  Please forgive my iniquities.

Actually, it started with a discussion been myself and Robyn who
subscribes to AA.  But please don't blame her for my continued presence
in AA.  This has been my choice to continue informing folks at AA out
of my love for **all** my neighbors.

Nonetheless, you remain in my prayers, dear Yang whom I love, in
Jesus's most precious and holy name :-)

Now this is about the works of the four riders on horseback from the
6th chapter of the Book of Revelation (we are now in the 6th year into
the third millenium after the birth of the Son of Man)

(1) Crowned rider wielding a bow and riding a white horse:

"See you on the other side.  It's not bad.  We are just going to
sleep." - missive (missile) from one of 12 born-again Christian miners
who gave up their lives to save the youngest among them after being
trapped by an explosion in a W.Va mine.

(2) Rider wielding a sword and riding a fiery red horse:

Ariel Sharon, the world's hope for lasting peace in the middle east,
suffers a massive bleeding stroke.  Violence and bloodshed in Iraq
escalates. U.S. now less likely to pull out of Iraq anytime soon.

(3) Rider wielding a set of food scales and riding a black horse:

The rate of increase of the number of people worldwide using the
2PD-OMER Approach (which advocates the use of food scales) accelerates
with growing worldwide concerns about the obesity epidemic:

http://www.HeartMDPhD.com/wtloss.asp

(4) Rider on a pale horse given the authority to kill a fourth of the
world's population "by sword, famine and plague, and by the wild beasts
of the earth":

The H5N1 Avian Flu Pandemic is here:

http://tinyurl.com/amj4a

Yes, the migratory birds spreading H5N1 virus are wild beasts of the
earth.
