I joined this group in an effort to find help for my husband who
recently had a heart attack, and developed other health problems. It
seems that this group is more intent on arguing about religion. Does
anyone know of a group that is devoted to cardiology and related health
issues? I am a devout Christian, but am currently looking for a
cardiology group.
Thanks,
Venice.

If you want to find one on usenet, you have to learn to use your kill
files. I don't see any religious discussion on this group, to give you
an example of how helpful such filtering can be.
Another possibility is to seek moderated groups on yahoogroups, or maybe
ezboard or some other space where folks control membership and
pre-approve posts to keep things on topic.
As long as you're here, though, do you have specific questions you'd
like addressed? I'm sure this is a nervous making time for you and your
husband.

There is very good cardiology information discussed here. When you use a
Usenet newsgroup, you HAVE to make careful use of filters to remove posts
from those who do not discuss cardiology.
Your Christianity has nothing to do with cardiology.

This is the cardiology group you seek. If there were no religious
discussions (or other off-topic stuff) going on here, there would be
no one here to answer questions from folks like you when they come
along. If you have a question or problem, just lay it out and it'll
be answered.

Hardly. If you filtered out everyone who discussed something you
didn't like, there wouldn't be any one left to answer your questions.
Clearly, Chinnis doesn't follow his own advice as he is a frequent
poster to the supposed off-topic discussions.

As a Christian, you know the REAL purpose of the heart.

Where else can you go and get a board certified cardiologist like Dr. Chung
to answer your questions for free? If he wants to share some of his
religious views along with that, fine with me.

Robert,
I agree with you. I've learned a lot of valuable information from
Dr. Chung's posts and from your posts.

Yes, this newgroup is a bit of a joke. But such is life in usenetland.
Since you are a Yahoo member, you might try one of the Yahoo Groups like:
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/heartattack/
I don't belong to that one but I do belong to some others and they are
moderated and populated with caring, supportive people. No funny business
(religious or otherwise) is allowed. There seem to be a number of
cardiology related groups.
Good luck to you and you husband.

Only the LORD can truly help to heal your husband. He is the source of
all healing:

Many apologies for that. Please forgive all my iniquities. The choice
to be openly Christian has attracted quite a crowd of folks who are
drawn by the light that is Christ's love coming from the heart.

There are moderated groups where openly Christian folks have been asked
to remove all references to Christ from their posts if they wish to
avoid having their posts rejected. Because of the dust that has
gathered marking the doorsteps of such moderated newsgroups, you won't
find devout Christians entering these places where the Word will not be
"heard."

SMC is a cardiology group. Thankfully, it is also a place where the
Word is "heard."

You are welcome, Venice.
