I wish to know if the 2d doppler echo test is good enough to identify
carotid artery block . What are the other safe methods available today .
What are the symptoms on which a doctor come to a conclusion that a
doppler test is necessary as the normal stethescope way is no good to be
very positive . What are the oral medications available .

Some 15 years back a friend of mine in India was found to have 40% block
in the right carotid and 20% in the left . He was advised asprin
and vitamin E 400 but later having suffered a transient ischemic attack
was given intravenous heparin for 5 days and the blockage disappeared .
