If you know of any tools/devices  that impressed you in your contact
with medical folks let us know.

My favorite is called a wobble board.  Sort of like a plywood circle of
different circumference with a bump in the middle.  Fancy versions with
adjustable movement is a neat way to encourage simple stretching  and
flexibility but a simple foot placement can yield similar effect.
Placement of you foot or Feet provide various degrees of movement.  Feet
would suggest holding on to a support.
I found out about this in rehab for a broken ankle.  Designed for leg,
hip, torso movement some folks use it for shoulder loosening.
I  purchased my own for about $40 US.

I used one of those in rehab for an injury to an ankle.  Good overall
for balance.  Probably a good idea to have one at home.  Thanks for
the url on how to order.

I looked at one of those when I was in rehab for a shoulder problem and
concluded I would probably fall off. Maybe I would need one with a smaller
ball in the center.

The most memorable device involved sort of a wagon/cart with a harness up
front. A teenage girl was put in the harness and the guy running rehab got in
the cart. She would pull him around the room. She looked for all the world
like a plow horse. If this were not a medical setting, I would have called
child protection services.

The most useful was a simple length of rubber about 4 ft long and round and
hollow like a hose. But it was much smaller around and streched easily and a
lot. On one end there was a loop for your hand and I tied the other end around
a pole in the gym. I would move away from the pole to make it taught and do
various exercises to make the shoulder stronger.
