I had an MI and 4 way bypass at age 55 in spite of excellent lipids.
I'm told the reason was probably my very high Lp(a) of 139. So I got it
down to 37 with 3 grams of niaspan.  But, after a few months, my
stomach started killing me.  I'm now off the niacin, popping Nexium and
my Lp(a) is back up to 90. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can have
a healthy heart and stomach at the same time? Thanks!

You were on greater than the recommended dose of Niaspan. After talking this
over completely with your Drs., you might consider going back on the Niaspan
at a much smaller dose and keep on the Nexium. A lot depends on your
particular condition.

Bill - not a Dr.
