"So I bid you pleasure and I bid you cheer
>From a heathen and a pagan
On the side of the rebel Jesus."

Thank you Andrew for all you do for us. Zee

THE REBEL JESUS
Original recording from the Chieftain's album "The Bells Of Dublin"

The streets are filled with laughter and light
And the music of the season
And the merchants' windows are all bright
With the faces of the children
And the families hurrying to their homes
As the sky darkens and freezes
Will be gathering around the hearths and tales
Giving thanks for all God's graces
And the birth of the rebel Jesus

They call him by the "Prince of Peace"
And they call him by "The Saviour"
And they pray to him upon the sea
And in every bold endeavor
As they fill his churches with their pride and gold
And their faith in him increases
But they've turned the nature that I worshipped in
>From a temple to a robber's den
In the words of the rebel Jesus

We guard our world with locks and guns
And we guard our fine possessions
And once a year when Christmas comes
We give to our relations
And perhaps we give a little to the poor
If the generosity should seize us
But if any one of us should interfere
In the business of why they are poor
They get the same as the rebel Jesus

But pardon me if I have seemed
To take the tone of judgement
For I've no wish to come between
This day and your enjoyment
In this life of hardship and of earthly toil
We have need for anything that frees us
So I bid you pleasure and I bid you cheer
>From a heathen and a pagan
On the side of the rebel Jesus.

However, you have clearly been given the necessary first-hand

folks about the potential for side effects from statins.

Hi Zee,

I was measuring very high blood pressures daily (near 100/150-170)
during the two weeks I waqs struggling with doing my back taxes ;))))
Since that's done, I'm happy and surprised to see my BP down to below
80/135 or so.

That's amazing to me, how stress causes high BP !

Be Well..

Stress can raise BP which is not the same thing as saying it causes high
BP (ie hypertension).

What had me worried was the fact that my tension stayed some 15 points
average higher than my normal BP, *continually* for 2-3 weeks.
Perhaps I was snacking a bit more than usual and exercising less,
otherwise my daily habits went on unchanged.  What else could have
caused this upsurge plateau of high blood pressure, if not stress ?

Be well, doc '

I guess I should do Chi Kung (which Rong Rong Zheng, heart and chi-kung
specialist at Stanford asserted, lowers BP), keep on gobbling aspirin,
take my 25 mg cozaar daily, avoid salt, keep exercising, and what else
should I be doing in order to avoid my heart from exploding !?

Sorry idiot.  Try reading from actual history and not quoting *advertising*.
If you *really* knew anything from the bible and actual history from
biblical times, you wouldn't have made such an asinine statement.  It's
so refreshing to see such a naive person being so blatantly naive.  Especially
when it's a religious zealot who has no grasp on actual historical events.
It really does nothing to ameliorate your beliefs.  It just makes you look
you don't know what you're talking about...yeah yeah yeah, turn the other
cheek, my judgment, etc.  Go hang out with real scientists Dr. Knowitnot.

Just as an historical curiosity - not taking sides - it was not really popular
in the US until Dickens wrote (and heavily promoted through tours) "A
Christmas Carol." Congress used to meet on Christmas.

(Now taking sides) I don't think he envisioned what it would become however. I
would like it to be a little bit more like Easter. Also I wish people would
take a look at the in between parts of Jesus' life - not just the start and
finish - i.e. what he really had to say. Take a look at Matthew 5 for example,
(it's short) particularly the last parts.

http://bible.gospelcom.net/passage/?search=MATT%205&version=31;

If this were put into modern English I think it would be dismissed as Liberal
babble today.

So my point is whether you believe or don't, I think he had some interesting
things to say and I wish more people would notice that rather than buying lots
of stuff.

"Doctor" Chung makes up his opinions as he sees them.  They have little to
do with history or fact.  It's pretty funny actually.  He celebrates Christmas
as if Christ was really born on December 25th (couldn't have happened on
that date...even according to scripture) believes that Christ looked like all
those paintings (which mostly depict him as very European looking...LMFAO!!!!!)
Dr. Chung has made it painfully obvious that he has had no training or
education in actual historical events.

Well done, Bill.  Thanks.  Few Christians (and contemporary Jews and
Muslims) realize how much ideas from the first several centuries as well
as from medieval times have influenced their religions as they are
practiced today, to say nothing of the "sweet nothing" pieties of
contemporary culture.  Jesus wouldn't recognize himself as he's
portrayed in many churches.

I'm celebrating.

It's night at  9 a.m. Brief intermission. Then,  It's night again by
3:30 p.m.

Everything to do with Chirstmas is pagan. The early Christians adopted
all the pagan customs because the new religion was such a hard sell.
They tried scaring us to death. No one cared. Then they thew a party.
We came.

Pass the dip.

The fear of death predated Christ.

I rarely sulk, and a never just because I read an inane non-response to
a question.  :-)

No, not everything.  The date of observance, yes, apparently from the
Roman Saturnalia (the sheep would only have been out in the fields at
night in warm times, not mid-winter, if we accept the truth of that
story).  The virgin birth, paralleled in stories from other contemporary
cultures to vouch for the significance of great men.  The Magi (not
given that name in the Bible), an allusion to the Persians/Medians who
looked for signs of significant human events in the stars.  The Roman
census of the Jews, perhaps but it's been hard to put a date to such an
event.  The slaughter of the innocents (all the boy children in
Bethlehem two years and under), apparently unproven and unprovable.

The tree, the candles/lights, the jolly elf with so many names and
faces, the multiplication of malls and the placing of commerce in the
center, the marketing through guilt that peaks at Christmas, all pagan.

But not "Xmas," which was a standard abbreviation from early Christian
times when every written word was a hand-written word.  "X" is not our
'x' but the Greek "chi," the first letter in [Ch]ristos, the Greek
equivalent of the Jewish Messiah.

Actually the new religion was a surprisingly successful sell considering
opposition both from the Jews and from the Romans who deified their
emperors in those days, especially as St. Paul did it.  He worked
largely among non-Jews who were nevertheless sympathetic to Judaism and
knew the cultural background that let them accept his preaching.

Bidin' my time.  Merry Christmas to all, and to all a Good Knight.
