Hi, I just did a Lipid Profile and the results are below.

Cholesterol - 218mg/dl
Triglycerides - 177mg/dl
HDL - 74mg/dl
LDL - 109mg/dl
Cholesterol/HDL - 2.9

I am 30 years old and working on a busy corporate life. Hardly any
exercise. Please critically analysis above results and suggest how I
should plan my activities.

Many thanks,
Karl

Would suggest you ask your doctor for an exercise prescription and any
recommendations concerning whether you should lose weight.

HDL is good.  LDL is so-so; good given the HDL.  Triglycerides are
high; not horrible but high.

The high triglycerides make me wonder about insulin resistance.  Did
you get any other numbers?  What is your:
weight
height
A1C
Anything out of the ordinary in your liver enzymes?

You can bring down the triglycerides with
weight loss (depending on where you are now.)
exericise (but you've ruled that out.)
lower carbs in diet; use lower-glycemic carbs.
Do you smoke?

Hi, thanks for feedback.

My weight is 5' 6" and weight is 150lbs. Blood sugar is 97mg/dl.

I also did a ESR. It says 4mm (first hour). I don't know what this
means...

You might be about 20 pounds over ideal/optimal body weight.

Ok.

This is also known as a sedimentation rate.  It is ok.

Your current Body Mass Index (a way of relating your weight to your height)
is 24.2.  Based on mortality studies this is pretty good -
http://content.nejm.org/cgi/content/full/341/15/1097 found that, "the nadir
of the curve for body-mass index and mortality was found at a body-mass
index of 23.5 to 24.9 in men", and you are right in the middle of that
range.

Based on your age, weight, height, and gender, you are in the 40th weight
percentile for US averages (i.e., 60% of 5' 6" 30 year old US males weigh
more than 150 lbs).

However, I was told a number of years ago that at age 30, "our warranties
expire"...so, you should give some serious thought to including an exercise
program.  And if you're interested in moving up the corporate ladder, you'll
find that being physically fit helps.

Re: Triglycerides - 177mg/dl
*** Sugar and simple carbohydrates are usually the cause of elevated
triglycerides ***
*** Avoid sugar [in all forms] and choose high fiber complex carbs
[oatmeal, bran cereal, ***
*** legumes, baked potato with the skin, wheat germ, whole grain bread
and pasta, brown rice, ***
*** figs, pears and get enough protein too ***

Cinnamon Improves Glucose, Triglyceride, and Cholesterol Levels in
People with Type 2 Diabetes
http://www.coloradohealthsite.org/CHNReports/cinnamon_glucose.html
*** Cinnamon is available in capsules, 500mg. Take 2 a day [1,000mg]
***

Re: Blood sugar is 97mg/dl
*** Based on the values below, you are almost into the pre-diabetic
range ***
*** so cinnamon should help that too ***
Glucose Levels:
70mg/dl > 99mg/dl ~ Normal
100mg/dl > 125mg/dl ~ Impaired fasting glucose (pre diabetic)
126mg/dl > ~ Probably diabetic

Hi Karl, I bet your Doctor wants you to lower all the numbers except HDL which
is
great.  The tris and LDL are too hi even though the ratio is very good.
EVerything is in the normal range for you but at 30 you are pushing your luck
with the other numbers,  do you have any heart trouble. Now the numbers are
total Choles. for at risk is much lower.  I'm old and have a moderately
elevated Total, but all still in the normal range.Statins do a number on my
muscles so I am working on my diet. I'm not a medical person, these are just my
opinions, but I bet you need to really work hard on STRESS!!  Good luck.
