 Hello everyone,

Six months ago those were my results:
Total:279.
HDL: 61.
LDL: 193.
Triglycerides:88.

After  fasting for almost 18 hours, last week results:
Total:278:
HDL:62.
LDL:209.
Triglycerides:88.

What's going on? I do not eat meat, have a lot of fruits and vegetables, my
husband who had two stents and balloon last June with 90% blockage, had
better results than me.
Drives me insane....

Thanks.

Winter? I think your cholesterol level might go up as outdoor temperature
goes down.

Anyway, those differences are small. Can be just measurement error too.

BTW, are you sure that you wrote your recent results correct? It does not
sum up (TC- HDL - LDL = 7, that is unlikely to leave room for TG at 88).

I guess that he is on medication, given his history, so it is no wonder...

You are supposed to fast before having your cholesterol checked to improve
accrucacy. Other animal products - e.g. dairy - can raise it. Read more here.

Hi Kiki :-)

Optimal weight for a 5'5" woman could be 120 pounds.  One would expect
lipid profiles to improve as one's weight got closer to this optimal.

Remain blessed.  Thank you for the well wishes.

What are you using for reference?  The insurance tables?

Her BMI is 23.3, a bit below the overweight level (BMI 25-29.9).

Also, how much cholesterol lowering would you expect if she lost that 20lbs?
Would that be because of weight loss or the starvation required to take off
that lst 20 lbs?

Maybe her cholesterol is genetically predetermined?

This is a lot more complex than weight alone.

You must be new here :)

Waist circumference.  Current NCEP guidelines for optimal is less than
35 inches for women.  Ime, this typically matches up to a BMI of just
under 20.  YMMV.

> Her BMI is 23.3, a bit below the overweight level (BMI 25-29.9).

But more than the empirical under 20.

> Also, how much cholesterol lowering would you expect if she lost that 20lbs?

Ime, it can be quite significant.

> Would that be because of weight loss or the starvation required to take off
> that lst 20 lbs?

It does not require starvation just eating less (ie 2PD Approach).
She might be a little bit hungrier, however, hunger and starvation are
two distinctly different states.  The former never causes death and
the latter occurs only *after* 0% body fat with an ironic loss of
hunger in many instances.

> Maybe her cholesterol is genetically predetermined?

The susceptibility for higher cholesterol at any given body fat
percentage is genetically predetermined.

> This is a lot more complex than weight alone.

As are both blood pressure and fasting blood sugar, which in a
susceptible individual, *will* both be higher as a person gains weight
and lower as s/he loses weight.

Why do I care ?

It is written in Ephesians 2:

10For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good
works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

All is a waste of time until you find the way to eternal life with the
Creator of the universe.  When you do, there is no waste of time
because there will be an infinite amount of it.  Walking about
aimlessly thinking it is *your* time, *your* money, *your* lot, *your*
labor, *your* profit, and *your* power that you are using is
tantamount to self-worship.

For Christ lights up the way through John 14:

6Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one
comes to the Father except through me..."

This bring us back again to the following very simple decision tree
for you to consider:

(1) Accept Christ.
Risk: Nothing.

Benefits: Salvation, purposeful life, eternal life, unimaginable
riches in God's eternal kingdom.

(2) Reject Christ.
Risk: Eternal separation from God.  Eternal torment of your soul by
satan.

Benefits: Nothing.

Again, one has to conclude that those (ie Carey, Steve, Bob, Zee,
Frank, Hawki, Rolando, Don et al) who would reject Christ have not
thought out their decision *logically*.

Would suggest you cast a glance at Bob Pastorio as a special example
of untruthfully eloquent self-worship (BTW, Bob remains in my prayers
out of Christian love) who is being driven to madness by my ignoring
him (http://makeashorterlink.com/?V29A236C9 and more recently
http://makeashorterlink.com/?K50B237D9).  All this power belongs to
God who has judged Bob Pastorio with His Word
(http://makeashorterlink.com/?G33F51E69). All praises to Him, Whom I
love with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength :-)

You will be in my prayers, dear Ed whom I love, in Christ's holy name.

Please do consider the following as your logic should dictate before
it is too late:

(Please note that God truly made this special link describing that He
is the great "I am" and that His message is as simple as the number 2
which is a number between 1 to 9 and reminds us of His 2 commandments,
the 2 arms of the cross, the 2nd part of the Trinity, the 2 finger
sign of the Prince of Peace [who remains *V*ictorious over death and
satan], and the 2PD Approach.  Let it not ever be written that Christ
did not make His presence known here on Usenet :-)

Andrew
