My husband has a "trapped lung". He also has CHF. There is fluid
around that lung. It is affecting his breathing. The doctor
believes, and I agree, that in his weakened conditon surgery to fix
the lung would be too much of a strain.
The cardiologist said there was a way to drain the fluid and put
something there to prevent it from recurring. I don't remember what
he said about how this is done. I only remember he said that first
they would have to dehydrate my husband.
Is anyone familiar with this procedure? Does it have a name? He's
already had a thoracentsis done but the fluid returned in a couple of
days.
