The obvious problem with this article is that there is no desperate need for bibles anywhere. One does not need a fictional book of religion that is based on pagan beliefs of prior religions and myths and legends. That many pastors do not even have a bible indicates that even they do not even know what they are supposed to believe in yet. And while there is freedom of religion in china - the story misses the point. There is no freedom of assembly in china - nor is there freedom of speech. Religion can only go on at the places and times allowed by the government. And since the government does not recognize the bible - it's printing and distribution is limited - as non-free speech. However - if the christian god was really real - he would have no problem getting the bibles to his pastors - even past the chinese. Obviously - he is not - so the bibles are nonsense. Let's see: a shipment of 315 Bibles was impounded. 30,000 to 40,000 become Christians every day. Population of China 1,330,044,605 in mid-2008 unless someone was away from home when the census taker came by. If my math is correct, it would take 33,251 days (ignoring births, deaths, immigration, and emigration, and those who are already Christian) for the entire population to become Christian. But at 315 per Bible shipment it will take 4,222,363.8 shipments to meet the demand, assuming no more will be confiscated. Perhaps the saving factor is that Mr. Klein is the one saying there are thousands who need Bibles, rather than the 1.3 billion Chinese who are awaiting their turn to become Christians and receive their free Bibles.
