Another problem with the crucifixion - rising from the dead - empty tomb
yarn:
In Roman crucifixion, the body was left on the cross as a public warning to
other people, and to punish the condemned person's family by denying them a
body to inter. Bodies would have left on the cross to be eaten by birds and
animals.
In the synoptic gospels, there's disagreement over when Jesus was crucified,
and only two mention the Passover holiday as being the reason for wanting
the bodies taken down.
HOWEVER, they all agree that Pilate, the historically known, somewhat
vicious Roman "governor" who had Jesus crucified to avoid possible religious
inspried riots among the Jewish populace, turned the body over to a Jew
named Joseph of Arimathaea, who was himself a disciple of Jesus.
That's the LAST THING Pilate would have done.
If he had any inclination to take down this crucified "warning sign" at all,
it would have gone into a mass grave or been thrown to the dogs.
It wouldn't have been turned over to Jesus' family and cult devotees, to be
honored and enshrined and allowed to "arise again".
Matthew:
027:057 When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named
Joseph, who also himself was Jesus' disciple:
027:058 He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate
commanded the body to be delivered.
027:059 And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen
cloth,
Mark:
015:042 And now when the even was come, because it was the preparation, that
is, the day before the sabbath,
015:043 Joseph of Arimathaea, an honourable counsellor, which also waited
for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the
body of Jesus.
015:044 And Pilate marvelled if he were already dead: and calling unto him
the centurion, he asked him whether he had been any while dead.
015:045 And when he knew it of the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph.
Luke:
023:050 And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counsellor; and he was
a good man, and a just:
023:051 (The same had not consented to the counsel and deed of them;) he was
of Arimathaea, a city of the Jews: who also himself waited for the kingdom
of God.
023:052 This man went unto Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus.
023:053 And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a
sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid.
John:
019:031 The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies
should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day
was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that
they might be taken away.
019:032 Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the
other which was crucified with him.
019:033 But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they
brake not his legs:
019:034 But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith
came there out blood and water.
019:035 And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he
knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe.
019:036 For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled,
A bone of him shall not be broken.
019:037 And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they
pierced.
019:038 And after this Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but
secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the
body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took the
body of Jesus.
Sorry, but it's a made up story.
