Present-day problems between the Israelis and the Palestinians date back to
the "covenant" myth between God and Israelites that allowed them to commit
genocide upon peoples' already been populating the region of Israel. The
mythical god gave them this land and allowed them to do anything to destroy
and drive other people out of it. This is reminiscent of Hitler's attitude
toward the lands of the western Soviet Union. Existing populations were to
be exterminated and starved into nonexistence -- any survivors being used
for slave labor.

In these stories, the Bible supplies a precedent for genocide and for germ
warfare, in recounting the killing off of Egyptian infants as a way of
pressuring Pharaoh to allow the Israelites to leave Egypt.

Recent archaeology, much of it conducted by Israeli archaeologists, has
shown that the stories of the flight from Egypt, the wandering in the desert
for 40 years were all made up at a later date. No Egyptian chronicle
mentions anything like it. In fact, the Egyptian army was garrisoned in
Canaan during the relevant times. There is evidence for Jews living in the
region for a long time preceding the mythical exodus.

In Deuteronomy Moses gives orders parents to have their children stoned to
death for indiscipline. He also states that "he that is wounded in the
stones, or hath his privy member cut off, shall not enter into the
congregation of the Lord".

In the book of Numbers, Moses addresses his general's and berates them for
sparing civilians: " kill every male among the little ones, and kill every
woman that has known a man by lying with him. But all the women children
that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves".
There is some debate among Israeli rabbis, as to whether this biblical
quotation is a coded commandment to mass murder the Palestinians.

The bible is full of lies, stories that set evil precedences in the mind of
mankind, and just plain weird stuff.
