Question about Lovenox

My husband takes Coumadin.  Every four weeks he has to have his INR
checked.  Whenever he is having anything done that may involve
bleeding he is taken off Coumadin and put on Lovenox.

My question is - how come they never require an INR or PT level with
Lovenox no matter how long he's on it?

Lovenox does not affect PT/INR.

The reason for its use where there might be acute bleeding from a
procedure is because its blood thinning effect is more controllable/
predictible just by knowing the dose received plus it wears off
quicker.

Too bad they can't make it in pill form so it could be used instead of
Coumadin.

The pharmaceutical industry has been and continues to work on coming
up with something better than warfarin.
