Tai Chi helps back pain because, despite it also being a marital art,
it is designed to enhance the body's resilience, improve flexibility,
keep your weight in check and help a person to an easier recovery from
injury, all in all a pretty good list of things.

To reduce back pain try to keep moving throughout the day. Chairs put
massive strain on the lower back (except for saddle chairs). Eat
healthy, exercise back and stomach muscles. De-stress by doing
breathing exercises while repeating a phrase on the inhale and exhale.
For chronic lower back pain consider purchasing a massage chair like the
iJoy 130. Tai Chi is horrible for the knees.
