My freind who is 53 male patient is going thru the second type of chemo
after standard of care failed.

His hands are severy swelledas well as his face. Any idea if this is
produces by the chemo or is it due to the disease? His bile ducts are
taken and Drs had to place stents.

His Ca19-9 marker was up to 4000 and went doen to 1400 after he started
the chemo.

Thanks in advance

Have your friend go to Dr. Raths website at
http://www.drrathresearch.org/about_drrath/index.html.
Its time for him to reverse the process of the cancer, Chemo won't do
it. Dr. Rath will explain why Chemo does not work in most cases. He
talks about using High vitamin C, Proline, Lysine and extract from
Green Tea. Have your friend do the research. I am fifty and have been
taking Dr. Raths nutrients for about a year, I have never felt better
in my life. Please for your friends sake, have him check it out.

Thanks Phil

Congratulations! You're yet another person who found his victory from
cancer by using things that make your cells healthier. It makes perfect
sense.

Chemo is like trying to get to New York from Chicago by taking a bus to
California.

Sorry to hear about your friend. It is impossible to make a diagnosis with
the limited information. Why not have him ask his doctor?

Dr.s tell him is the Chemo plus a blockeage in the carotid. Does that
make sense?

I don't know how the chemo would cause the swelling but a blockage anywhere
between the hand and the heart would do it. Either clot or tumour. If it's
just one hand then a blockage in the axilla would be most likely but
anywhere on the return pathto the heart is posssible but the closer to the
heart the more widespread in the upper body the swelling would be.

Yes -well, sort of. Sounds like he has a SVC syndrome, probably due
very swollen LNs in his mediastinum or due to paraneoplastic thrombi in
the same area.
Chemo can cause edema indirectly through heart failure.
