I was asked this question by a Mandy from qvene(at)yahoo(dot)com.
Mandy has an uncle diagnosed NPC stage IV. The treatment offered to him
is only chemo. Mandy question is whether other options possible. I
remember back in Jun 22, 2003 5:16am this group that Steph (radiation
oncologist) mentioned re-curring NPC options are gamma knife,
brachytherapy, surgery, radiation, palliative chem as mentioned in
http://www/cancer.gov/cancerinfo/pdq/treatment/nasopharygeal.
Is that answer still hold about the same now in 2005?
Will someone please answer to Mandy.
(PS I myself is NPC victim June 2000 stge 2, my experience is in
www.geocities.com/nasopharyngeal), also in yahoo group
Nasoparyngeal_Carcinoma Group and Nasopharyngealcarcinoma2 Group).

The only potential curative treatment for locally recurrent npc is
radiotherapy. External beam, imrt, or or a combuination of those with
brachytherapy and/or chemo.
There is no curative treatment for metastatic npc beyond the neck nodes
