Colonoscopy & biopsy report

Regarding colon cancer: if a large mass is found (no size mentioned in the
report except that dye was injected into 4 sections of it) and noted in the
biopsy report, is it possible that there were other smaller cancerous
growths in the colon and not mentioned in the report.

The reason I'm asking is that when one has a colonoscopy, the surgeon
generally finds more than 1 polyp, so I think it unusual that there would
only be one mass.
Thanks,
Dee

Multiple polyps are very common.  Second (synchronous) colon cancers are
only present about 3 per cent of the time, but are why the colon needs
complete examination before surgery.
