going to have surgery on feb 11th, to remove the scar tissue at the
bladder neck. the bladder neck keeps closing from scar tissue  being
there. i thought this is same day surgery, but my doctor told me "that i
will be in the hospital for two  to three days. what a disappointment.
well it needs to be done. i can't be going back every two weeks to be
open up with those sounds instruments.  will this surgery finally get
rid of the scar tissue? has anyone had this surgery and what were the
results? thank-you  for all the help in the past  and everyone in this
group who has a problem  with prostate cancer and any side affects, that
the outcome will be succesful for you.

hi paul - i will tell you what my surgeon told me.  you have a 90 - 95%
chance of success, which is very good.

he will go up and remove the scar tissue and do a cutdown is at least
two spots.  it is basically a TURP.

my surgeon told me that he didn't make the cuts too deep so as to affect
my continence.

i wore the catheter for 4 days after surgery and removed it at home on
the fifth day.  i have not have any trouble since then.  that was
september 30th.

i can not offer a reason as to why you require a hospital stay.  mine
was same day surgery and in fact, i got there and checked in by 9am, on
the operating table by 10am and out the door and into the car by 2pm.

hope this helps.

Hello Paul...

I had this adventure quite a couple of times!!....  I had to go through this
procedure about  5 times total in a years time frame....I was under
anesthesia every time and the procedure lasted about 1/2 hour....I was for
no more than 5 hours total at the hospital.....
I did some research for my past problem with scarring and found out that I
was not the only one with this level of occurrences....based on my
experience, I see no reason for you to be at the hospital for more than 5 to
8 hours if you are having a simple scar tissue removal....

By the way, after the 5th procedure, I have had no more problems.. (4 years
ago)..

Regards for your brother in arms,

Fernando
