Hello All,
I had my catheter removed this morning! But before doing so, the nurse
said they wanted to run a test to see if I could pee....So.....out came
a BIG syringe and she filled it with water then unplugged my bag, shot
the water up into my bladder, reconnected the bag, went and refilled the
syringe (4 times!). But I did not pee no steady stream or nothing like
it. But looking down at my bag, it was full. Seems each time she
reconnected my bag to refill the syringe, the catheter just drained what
she injected. The urologist said go home, drink and relax and PEE...Well
it has been 5 hours now, I have filled 3 Depends but no big racehorse
type stream - just a steady leak. I am hoping this is somewhat normal. I
will give it the weekend and call the doc's office Monday morning as a
follow-up. I know I am expected to leak. Just how long I don't know.
Maybe forever? Or maybe things are still a bit swollen internally and
have to fully heal over time to get things a little bit more towards
normal. And when I stand up, yowza! I get a warm rush down below!
I am happy that the catheter is out, doing kegels on the side and will
actually be able to roll completely over in bed and maybe even sleep on
my stomach. With my diaper in place of course.
Just an update.

Congrats on getting the foley out, Philski!
Hopefully, the leaking will improve soon.... Just keep practicing those
kegels!
Take care,

Phil,
You will not like pee while in bed tonight. So, you'll have a good idea
when you wake up whether or not you're peeing or not.

Probably you will start to notice some control in about a week. The patient
must be patient.
