Well, now I am singing....
What song you ask? It is "Tomorrow" from the Annie...

Tomorrow, Tomorrow, The Catheter Comes Out Tomorrow, It's Only a Day
Away!!!!!!

Now I know I can't carry a tune in a bucket but I do have something to
sing about huh?

And I have a question. To anybody's knowledge, has there been a study or
posted results that might show the incidents of re-occurence of PCa in
RRP vs LRP surgeries? In other words, do urologists performing the
laproscopic methods vs the retropubic methods tend to leave more or less
behind?  Just wondering.....

I have purchased a big bag-o-depends just to make sure. I feel I might
be able to have some control but won't know until that tube is yanked
and I am flying solo.

And thanks to everyone within this group for your continuing support. It
is a great comfort to be able to air things out and get answers
(particularly those that aren't sugar coated)...education is the answer
IMHO...

Phil,

I'd advise you not to worry about it.  No matter what the studies say, it is
not going to make a nanogram of difference in your case.  PCa recurrence is
not really a recurrence, but a renewed realization that you still have
cancer in your body.  The studies are not going to change that in you.

However, if you wanna know, it is my understanding that RRP has a good and
certifiable track record, especially with a good, artistic surgeon.  LRP
seems to have similar mortality rates, but there are not as many studies to
back up the assumptions.  The most recent study (and it is only one) seems
to indicate there is not much difference between all the major methods of
treatment.

Steve,
Thanks for your reply. I am not worrying about it at this point. Just asking for
self-edification.....

You sound fine from here!

Enjoy what you've got now, a successful RP, and freedom from the "tube"!

Thanks Wakester....

Now I just hope that someday, the "Yeller Flood" will slow down and maybe
stop. The urologist said call if I couldn't pee this weekend...I need to
call him and ask, "When can I NOT pee?" It seems to be "running open" at
this point but being only 2 weeks from my surgery, I must be patient.

Yup, the docs sometimes see things from a different angle, don't they.

I didn't have a "flood", but I think I'm going to take a couple of months to
get rid of the "dribbles". I think I'd rather have too much flow to start
with after hearing about somebody's problem with total blockage from scar
tissue.
