To Whom It May Concern:

I have BPH. The volume of prostate is 90cc. I wake up to urinate one or
two times at night, but at day time I have frequent urination: I go to
the bathroom approximately every hour.  Did somebody have the same
experience? How did you solve this problem?

Thank you in advance for help.

Sincerely,
Peter

Have you had your blood sugar checked? If you are drinking more than usual
it could be diabetes - happened to me.

The prescription Flomax is used to shrink the prostate. The herb Saw Palmeto
is also used by some to shrink the prostate. But you may need to have a
surgical (outpatient) reduction in the size of your prostate to allow the
bladder to completely empty which it is not doing now.

A former co-worker had this same problem, frequent urination and he was
diagnosed with BPH too.  Ultimately he had the transurethral resection
of the prostate, (TURP) and that put him back into the normal range.
It's my understanding this is a overnight stay in the hospital and quite
painless.  Dr Walshes book Guide to Surviving Prostate Cancer goes into
TURP and other problems during the first 40 or so pages before it
switches to the more serious Pca.   I don't know of any other books
which go into that area, but I'm sure they are out there.  Also, I think
there is a NG devoted to BPH and you may want to ask the question there
also.

Good luck and be happy you're not a club member of Pca NG.

I have noticed in a number of clinical trial descriptions that one of
the eligibility restrictions is often no prior TURP.

I presume that's just to prevent possible biasing of trial results
based on some people having had some different treatment.  However
before scheduling TURP, it might be useful to ask the doctor how it
might affect future treatment for prostate cancer, if it ever becomes
necessary.

This is probably nothing, but thought I'd mention it just in case.  It
never hurts to ask questions.

I solved it by having my prostate removed! I now pee like a racehorse on
crack....
