I have been on ADT (zoladex) for the past two years in conjunction with
brachy and beam radiation. My ADT was stopped six months ago so today I
went to my URO for a psa and check up. As far as I am concerned todays'
psa is the real deal because it takes (I'm told) six months for the
zoladex to get out of your system. I'm sitting in the adjacent office
and my URO walks in and says "5.11". My heart sank. He looks at me and
says "what's the matter?" A 5.11 psa and he asks what the matter is?
He says, oh no, your psa is 0.03. I'm reading 5.11 on your cap. I was
wearing my 5.11 tactical baseball cap. (5.11 is a clothing/equipment
line for law enforcement/military.) Maybe some of you will enjoy this
story. An honest mistake on his part - just happenstance. Once my
heartbeat came back to normal we had a good laugh about it.

I'm confused. I thought you began your treatment during November 2007.
Smatter of fact, that all that I thought I knew about you - and obviously
not even that. Can I now assume you were diagnosed early in 2007 and began
treatment mid-2007, or was it the 1st of 2007?

Great story.
I love their tactical t-shirts, but always had a problem concealing a .45 in
their ballcap. :-)

Sorry I confused you Steve. Nov 2007 was brachy. Best I can remember I
was diag. in Feb 2007 followed by 2 yrs of ADT starting in Mar 2007.
Had 3500 gy of beam in Jun 2007 and about 3500 gy with the brachy. The
VA did/does the diag, ADT, and aftercare, and a local civilian hospital
did the rest. The original diag was gleason 7, but I let Epstien at JH
read the slides too and he came up with gleason 6. Anyhow, I'm still
here (radiation proctitus and all). All things considered I don't
recommend this crap to anybody, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

I'm glad to know that you're still here.
As for the other problem, I found that copious use of Preparation H
made a big difference both in relieving the irritation and in allowing
things to heal.

Is the "subject" pun intended?

No - this is not a pun. It honestly happened just like I told it.
