With great sadness, I must tell you all that my father has lost his battle
with cancer today.  He passed away this morning at about 8:15 AM.  He had a
quiet and peaceful night.  This morning he just took a couple big breaths
and he was gone.  My mother and I were here in the room.  My brother was
taking my cousin to the airport so we are sorry that he was not here at the
time - but my brother has been taking it very hard and maybe this was
better.  We opened the window so his soul could fly, something my cousin
asked that we do.

Thank you all for your kind words and prayers, I think they made a
difference in his last hours.  My father was always one to lend a hand to
friends and neighbors, so please take the time to lend a hand to someone as
you go through life.

With love and sadness,

Can I please let him fly free!  He deserves his freedom. Today I caught fish
at low tide in the Pacific Ocean, and the Sea was rough, and the fishing was
not good.  I did manage to catch one fish which after a while and not
catching others, I let the fish go.  That was the best I felt. Let the fish
go.  I believe Maynord can now look on us and being free from all life
trauma, is free.  Like the fish, he is free.
He helped me a bunch, and sorry the news came.

Beverley,

My heart goes out to you and your family in your time of grief. I've only
been here a short time, but I've read some of Berkey's writings as well as
others comments about him, all of which should make you very proud to be his
daughter.

Wish I was his daughter but I'm not. His daughter, Gail, sent me the note
and I just copied it into the post so you all would know.

Such sad news.  I'm fairly new to this group (not sure yet if I belong)
but I am heartened by the strength of the support that I see in the
postings.

I didn't know Berky but from what I've read he was a real trooper.  My
heartfelt sympathy to you and all his friends.  He is at peace!

To Berky's Family...

My husband and I are so saddened by your news. Berky was a big part of
my husband's positive attitude in the last year and a half. Berky's
postings made a lot of the anger inside my husband dissipate.

I hope you find some small comfort in knowing that he helped so many.
What a wonderful man he was. We will never forget him.

Thanks for this message and all that you have contributed to this NG. I have
a feeling that you like the rest of us received inspiration from Berky's
example. His spirit will continue on with the members of this group.

Like many others here I had the opportunity to exchange emails with Berky...
While this wonderful and courageous man has moved on, his legacy of care and
warmth remains with all of us.

We all ride on shoulders like Berky's. He'll continue to help countless of
us who never knew him for years to come.

Berky helped me through my journey. He helped me give my first Pca talk to a
group of men by sending me his speaches and reference materials. I hope all
of us can carry on his legacy of support and education. Can't type anymore,
i don't like crying in public.

I'm returning to this NG after not reading or posting for a while.
Your father was an inspiration to me and to us all.  He was always so
upbeat and cheerful.

His handle 'the Warrior' says it all.

My prayers are with you.

God Bless You.

I am very, very sad.

My deepest sympathy for your, and our, loss.  May the strength to cope with
adversity he promoted to all of us, help see you through this sad time.
