That's great, Just!!
BigJim: This is a better example of SRT. Just started out with an 18.5 PSA
and GS 3+4=7 and had a radical prostatectomy on or about March 1, 1999. By
mid-March 2005, his formerly undetectable PSA was back up to 0.21, so he
underwent salvage radiation treatment (SRT). Today, 3½ years later, we're
allowing for the possibility that he is cured.

**I hate to be the one to spoil this, but this Kramer is NOT Kombat Kramer
(the cheat, liar and fraud that until very recently used to post on
rec.knives).
If Kombat Kramer is reading this, maybe he'll have the good manners to
confirm this, and also confirm as to whether or not he'll ever be returning
to rec.knives. My guess is that he WON'T, because he knows that if he does
the 'trolls' will be back to 'play' with him, and it'll end as it did the
last time with a victory for the 'trolls' and a humiliating defeat for
Kombat. :-)

You and Labgal are here now and not contributing (other than being
trolls) so what does it matter if Steve comes back or not?

Noting the cross-posts I say this: Go away. Just GO AWAY.
None of you are welcome on a prostate cancer education & support site.

Hi Steve,
Please accept my sincerest and humble apologies, at the thoughtless
comments.
I cannot imagine the emotional distress you are going through, and you
have my best wishes and thoughts through this trying time.
The average rec.knives user is a skilled craftsman, and/or an avid
polite collector, but all are gentlemen.
Accept my apology on behalf of rec.knives.
I also apologise for the cross post.
Kindest regards Charles

Way too funny! Steve K. You have to be really happy with your October
PSA. Great News...

Wonder how many urologic surgical oncologists are members of

Six months later (and 4 years after salvage RT) I am glad to report
another undetectable result that just came out = <0.05.
I always like to commemorate... I think I will go to a restaurant by
the sea for dinner and have some grilled fish and a nice wine!

Congratulations, Just. Ron and I would love to join you for some
grilled sea bass and a few glasses of a white wine we enjoyed in
Porto......Plan Alto. Sigh....but we can get the wine here due to a
large local Portuguese population.
Best.....the 2 of us.

Hi Heather!
You certainly have good taste for wines... Planalto is also one of my
favorites.
Next time you want to try a Portuguese wine I suggest you also check
Esporao (red). Goes down well with bacalhau (dried cod fish).
My best regards to Ron.
Cheers.

Congratulations Just.
Stories like this, though not constituting a statistically significant
sample,
nevertheless demonstrate that, at least sometimes, salvage radiotherapy
does work.
The statistics I've seen indicate that it only works for about half of all
men
who try it - and it only does that well among men who get it while their
PSA is still pretty low.
But the key thing is that really it can work. Men who have failed RP
do have a second chance.
