Everything going well but started noticing blood after urinating. At the
very end there are drops of blood. Not really any discomfort, not anymore
than usual anyway. Is this normal? I admit I had started going back to a
normal routine, grocery shopping, bathing my 2 year old son, driving etc.
Those routines involved lifting. My son weighs 30 pounds. Could that be the
cause? I am worried about the sutures between the bladder neck and the
urethra. Should I be? Can't contact my physician until Monday.
Thanks in advance for any replies.
My euro told me that if I saw blood, I was doing too much. Lifting? I think
I'd start there. Then, driving - I wasn't supposed to drive far, ride
airplanes, trains, or buses for 6 weeks after. I pretty much didn't drive more
than 38 miles one-way (distance to my friend's house) and otherwise I took it
real easy.

Ditto here, DM. After any sort of abdominal surgery, be it male or
female, you are not to lift anything heavier than a glass of wine for 6
weeks. Nor drive, etc. For the simple reason that we use those lower
abdominal muscles for a lot more than we realize. And if you had to
slam on the brakes suddenly, I should imagine you would do some fair to
middling damage.

I agree. Leave the child lifting to someone else for a while. And
don't drive until everything is healed. Things can be jarred loose in
a sudden stop.

Thanks for the reply. I am planning to take it easy for the nest few days
and hope it clears up.

This is one of the most often asked questions. I'm surprised doctors don't
tell their patients about it.
Yes, it is absolutely normal.

Well, I passed blood _clots_, which the fellow that did my cystosopy said he
saw in there even before the catheter was out, but no actual bleeding occurred
during the recovery. Of course, I did a lotta sitting around. Didn't lift
much, didn't drive far. Worked for me.
