went to denver, which is over a 1000 mile trip one way for us.  while i
was out there, had the chance to observe people, their problems and
prostate cancer.

my brother, who i finally got to get a psa test at the age of 65, who is
in a high risk group, has a brother (me) and a father who had prostate
cancer and he never had a psa test done.  he said his psa came back at
6  has anybody heard of that?  i've been around the group for a long
time and know that when a man gets in his 60's, that doctors will look
at a higher psa number as being in the normal range, but can a man in
his 60's have a .6   maybe dr. williams will chime in for the answer to
that one.

he has a business that incorporates other people and since i have been
making him more aware of prostate cancer is talking with these people
about pca.

one of the couple who works with him, the man is in his 70's and had an
elevated psa and had a biopsy.  his wife was very concerned that it
could be cancer.  the husband went in to see the doctor last week to go
over the biopsy results and held the information back for a week before
telling her that he did not have cancer.  she was fit to be tied.  to
lead her on like this for over a week and he knew all along the test
results.

i wish everyone a very happy new year.

i would like to take this time to reflect on folks who this year and
years past have had to deal with how prostate cancer has touched our
lives.  it has made us stronger, not weaker.  brought us together, not
tear us apart.  has brought us hope, not despair.  and as it has changed
our lives forever, it certainly has not broken our spirit, not lessen
our appreciation of life.  in fact, it has enhance our love for family,
our friends, and to embrace life.

i would like to say to the folks who have prostate cancer and have not
receive treatment yet and to the ones who are lurking.

if you are becoming a club member,  you will find this to be a haven of
security in one  of the most raging storms of your life.  we don't know
the answer to everything, but we come from all walks of life and bring
to this group some of most dedicated people to a cause that one can
imagine.  we are the proof that prostate cancer be beaten and that it is
not a death sentence.

while i don't want to say it is the best support group out there, it
certainly is one of the best support groups known.

so, as we all raise our glasses to bring in the new year.  i would like
to make a toast.  to great friends.  (clink)

Clink!!!!!!!!!

Yes, to another year.

We lost one of our own this past year (Robert Young). We are on the verge of
another (Berky). But we've probably saved more than we can possibly imagine.
Keep spreading the word, everyone. Someday will lick this cancer, maybe for
our sons and daughters but it is a "curable" cancer. We sit on the threshold
of wonderful new treatments and the possibility of a vaccine. But until then
it is so important to tell everyone we know to be screened.

A little over three years ago I had no idea what a PSA was or what it meant.
(Yeah, this baby has come a long way!!!!!!!) Today I'm facing another year
with the man I married over 33 years ago and still love, probably more now
than then. Life isn't perfect, but at least we know we did everything
possible to eliminate the cancer and hopefully give us many more years
together.

So here's to a New and Wonderful Year!
