John,
I agree the waiting is awful, and it may be just beginning if your
experience is like mine.
GP finds elevated PSA. Wait two weeks for appointment with the urologist.
Urologist does initial visit and DRE - recommends biopsy.
Wait a week or so for biopsy and another week or so for results. Its PCa.
Wait a couple of weeks for appointment with surgeon.
Decide on surgery. Wait eight weeks for first available surgery date.
Total elapsed time from high PSA to surgery was about 14 weeks.
Aaaaargh! It was just agony for a worry-wart like me who tends to analyze
everything in way too much detail. Try to take DM's advice and distract
yourself if you can. If you get disappointing results from the biopsy, use
the time to research your options thoroughly. I found the folks on this
newsgroup were a valuable resource and a great help.
Good luck!
Jim

Wow. I think I could gave had my surgery the following week or 2, but put it
off about 4 weeks to be able to do annual roller coaster riding and attending
the Dayton Hamvention in Ohio. Guess it's just what part of the country you
are in, maybe.

You live near Dayton? I'm in Cincinnati.

How do you like Dusty Baker? We Cub fans were glad to get rid of him.

I've never been impressed with him and still am not. We have to rebuild and
he can't deal with young players. He leaves relievers in too long. You
know, the same problems he had with the Cubbies.

Hi Steve,
No, I live in Virginia, but am originally from Fostoria, Ohio where I developed
the habit of going to the Hamvention in the late 60's. Have been to most of
them whenever I wasn't way out of the area with the military or chasing some
$$$ in some road rallies that paid money. I hate to miss the event.
