I have problems with energy anyway, but I'm really tired today.  Seems
different.  No fever.  Don't seem to be passing that much urine, and
have a sort of need to go feeling.

Can all these be related?  Is there just one inlet hole in the
catheter inside, or are there a few, in case one gets clogged?

I do seem to be passing some urine.  Just doesn't seem to be as much.

==>  First, I recommend you track your intake of fluid and your urine.  If
you end up calling your doctor, you'll have some facts to give him.

It is possible to lose your ability to urinate, even with the catheter.
But, it would seem if some urine is getting through, you would not seem to
have a complete blockage.

You should expect fatigue, however.  Your body has just received an
incredible assault to it.  Don't let your mobility fool you.  It was major
surgery and your system was duly challenged.

Take naps and take it easy.

Hi Dwight.....

Just getting to the news groups now, and suggest that you call your
doctor in the morning.  You just had fairly major surgery so of course
you will be tired.

And I am willing to bet $10 that you could have a bladder
infection.....so check things out with the doctor.   I just saw Alan's
reply to you higher up and he also said bladder infections are not
uncommon.

Good luck.....Heather (aka Night Owl)

I wasn't actually smart enough to say that much, but it's
possibly true.

Hooting from here too.

Drink lots of water.  If you are not drinking lots of water you may be
dehydrated.  Water will help flush the body out and especially the bladder.
I hope you are walking also, since this facilitates the removal of many of
the leftovers from surgery. (activity = good feelings)
With surgery and all the surrounding issues of the hospital, the drive, the
worry, the pain, and all the new equiptment you have to contend with you may
feel some depression.  I would say this is major factor in feeling "tired"
Bladder infections are highly likely to occur, and to monitor this would
relieve your mind of yet another compication that may happen.  talk to the
Dr. rest, and hopefully you will start to feel better.

Hi Dwight
Can only speak from own experience. But everything jloomis says is v.
pertinent. Including bladder infections likely to occur - more likely
with catheters than without. Has there been any darker colour, smell,
when you empty? In any case do what other posters say, straightaway,
see doc. Because very easy to detect and cure infection. Pee in a
bottle and a dipstick will immediately tell the doc if infection
likely. Then sent to analysis to confirm. Then antibiotic cures in
short order. So no worries there Dwight.
To reply to your question about holes -only one in a catheter. But
nurses can also easily wash out to ensure, e.g. no little blood fleck
(normal after down-below ops)  is impeding. So quick - and easy -
checks should quickly put mind at rest. But pick up phone, do it,
don't sit there worrying yourself probably for nothing, after already
having more than a tough time. And an infection would contribute to
tiredness.
My very best wishes to you
