I saw a posting from Heather earlier that she is using the free
Motzarella news service (http://www.motzarella.org). To use it,
you'll need to know who to configure a newsreader like Outlook
Express - which is not hard to do.
I tried it and, Voila!, 90% of the spam disappeared. I'm using it
to post this message.
It appears that what Motzarella has done is empowered trusted
users to send in "spam cancel" messages that kill spam and
delete it from their servers. The user community itself thus gets
control over the spam and blows it away.
When I realized how well that works, I wrote it up and sent it
to Google in hopes that they would do something similar. If
they do it will change Google from a spam magnet to a spam
free zone. Everyone will benefit.
