Egads!  You sure brought back some memories.

I wish I could locate the news release (a hoax) about the
uniforms for Brown's new "Fruit Fly Police Department".
The press release included pink tights (or a tutu) and
several other features (including the tricycles they'd
ride) I can't recall 28 years later.

Only those who lived in California during Moonbeam's reign
and who remember the fruit fly invasion would understand. <g>

I kinda liked old Moonbeam - in fact I think we need more like him.
For instance, while governor and while promoting the idea that we need
to make do with less, he lived in a small apartment and drove  himself
around Sacramento in a 10+ year old Plymouth.  No limo or governor's
mansion for him.  Also, while mayor of Oakland, he lived in an
apartment in a high crime area so he could see first hand what the
people endured.  He got to see a couple of murders on his block.
