I happen to notice the stock for GTx (symbol GTXI) shot up 40% this
week. The reason was they finished their Phase III trials
successfully. The drug mitigates some of the side effects of ADT. In
reviewing their website http://www.gtxinc.com/ it seems the drug acts
like a synthetic estrogen, called SERM, without the harmful effects of
the real estrogen. It seems like they are also working on a synthetic
form of testosterone, called SARM. This is my interpretation and could
be entirely incorrect. The comparisons are at http://www.gtxinc.com/tech/serm.htm

It sounds very exciting.

John,

What is your sense regarding SERM and it's use vs. ADT1, ADT2, ADT3?  Would
this be something that might be effect after Lupron, Casodex, and Zolodex
failed?

Steve,

I'm certainly no expert, but it seems to me that SERM works in
conjuction with ADT to alleviate the side effects. As a synthetic
estrogen, it helps to prevent broken vertebra, hot flashes and other
side effects. I think the most exciting thing is the synthetic
testoterone, SARM. Then men on ADT may have normal sexual function as
well as other issues related to testosterone.

==>  Now THAT would be a boon.
