A friend of mine with hormone refractory PCa was put on revlimid
by Dr. "Snuffy" Myers.  Nine days later, his PSA had dropped
from 12.4 to 8.6.  Dr. Myers told him that another patient he has
tried this on had a big drop, from the hundreds to the single digits,
after 30 days on revlimid.

Those of us with hormone refractory PCa might want to ask their
oncologists about this.

Dear Alan,

I remember the name revlimid because I looked it up when Dominic M was
inquiring about it.  It is being used in a clinical trial at Hopkins.
Here's what he wrote:

"During my November second opinion visit to Johns Hopkins, my med onc
told me about Phase II copper chelator ATN224 trial and a
antiangiogenesis/immunomodulator  revlimid trial. I think for these
my
PSA might need to be at 2."

Hope this helps,

LFC

Thanks for the feedback.

I'm betting that very few people have tried this, but it's something
for our ADT folks to think about if or when ADT stops working.

Sirs:
Revlimid is a new version of Thalidomide, the dreaded drug from the
1960's. It is indeed an anti-angiogenesis drug. It is advertised to
have fewer of the side effects of thalidomide. The good news is that
it is associated with effectiveness in treating solid tumors, such as
prostate cancer, alone or particularly in concert with other drugs.
See the spectacular results of Ning, et. al, with Avastin+Thalidomide
+Docetaxel for metastatic PCa. The bad news about Revlimid is that it
is very expensive; 5,000$-8,000$ per month for daily treatment. So
says my local oncologist.

When I met for one of my 2nd opinions with Johns Hopkins the Med Onc
was suggesting a Revlamed trial however I believe the one at Hopkins
is closed.

Correction. I just heard from Johns Hopkins and their Revlamed trial
is open.
