New Cyclotron arrived in Philly today;  Proton beam therapy is
supposed to
be up and running here Summer, 2009.

Anyone have any comment about the Dattoli  Center's extreme negativity
toward proton beam therapy?  Besides their obvious financial interests
in
being against it, is there any merit to their arguments?  Any studies
comparing seeding versus proton therapy?

I have no idea why.  But, I can tell you that there have only four men who
have come across this newsgroup who have tried Proton Therapy.  I've listed
them.  Each has reported no relapse, but I haven't heard from any but Keith
in a long time.

Hi Steve and all:

I've been reading posts here regularly but haven't had much to say
other than that Paul is doing well. His proton treatment at Loma Linda
ended on 5/31/07. His first post-treatment PSA (on 9/26/07, four
months post treatment) was 1.2, down from a high of 3.5 in January
2007. He goes for another PSA test at the end of March.

Insofar as side effects, the only side effects he experienced were
urinary urgency and a slight burning during treatment. These ended
within a month or so after treatment.

I read the Dattoli website article but since I'm not a medical
physicist (or anything else medical, for that matter) I really can't
comment on its validity. There is a proton center in Florida (in
Jacksonville, see link below) so I wouldn't necessarily rule out the
financial competition issue.

I'm sorry, Carol.  We did hear from you after his September PSA.  I was
confusing you with Paul Williams whose handle used to be CPWsomething.

I'm glad your Paul is doing well.

Congratulations.
