I sincerely thank all those who responded to my message. It's a great
help to receive information from people in the same boat as myself. I
have to say I don't have a lot of faith in many of the Doctors these
days, at least not in this neck of the woods. I remember approx 9
years ago, hearing an advert on one of the Radio Stations here in NZ
from a Doctor that had been trained at the Harvard University in the
US. I'm struggling to remember his name, but I think it may have been
Kaiser or something similar - not really sure though. Anyway, his
message was about a product that he believed would be greatly
beneficial for a healthy Prostate - the cost was $90 NZD for 3 months
supply.
On my next visit to my GP, I mentioned this to him and asked if this
stuff was worth taking? He quicky responded by telling me "it was
just Twaddle", going on to say: that if you're going to get Prostate
Cancer, then your going to get it and that's that. He said it may
delay it but it's not going to stop one getting Prostate Cancer. On
later visits, I had also mentioned that I was experiencing quite a
full and uncomfortable bladder during the night. I said that I
usually had a cup of tea/coffee and did he think that would be the
cause to which he responded: yes, he thought that would probably be
why.
When I consider my situation now and reflect, I think this fool has
let me down very badly. This was a case of a patient bringing a
concern directly to him relating to PC or at least the prevention of
it, for his advice. In my view, any Doctor worth his salt would
surely have thought to himself, this guy is obviously thinking of PC -
I'd better send him for a PSA test just to be sure, after all he's
around the 50 year old mark & never been tested.
At that time, I was completely unaware of any tests for PC. Never
even heard of a PSA test until the end of 2004 when I went to a Uro
for the repair of a hernia.
In so far as the Cryosurgery is concerned, I've been unable to find
anyone at all to speak to thats had the treatment. Living right at
the bottom end of the Country, there is only one Uro in the City I
live in and so being able to have input from those in this Group is a
great help indeed.
I'm certainly going to have a rethink of my options now and have taken
on board the remarks/questions from you all. They have given me more
insight, which will enable me to question my Uro in more depth with
regard to my situation.
Many thanks
Cliff

Based on your previous and current post, I'd say he has very nearly killed
you.
