I must say, I'm very proud to have (virtually) met a lot of folks in this
group and I'm greatly impressed with the positive attitude that most of you
exhibit while faced with a serious condition. I appreciate the sense of
humor some have shown (you know who you are). This has been an eventful
season for us, I was diagnosed + for prostate cancer, a week prior to that,
my wife had a questionable mammogram that has since been confirmed as a +.
The bottom line is that we both were diagnosed early enough to do something
and we're taking that approach, do something to help yourself.
One positive thing that's come out of this is that we've both quit smoking
immediately.
Hypnotism, gum, patches, Zyban and the cost of all that , they didn't work,
all it took was a little cancer. We both realize that neither breast or
prostate cancer is directly attributable to smoking, but it sure is one heck
of a wake up call. See, something good has come from this latest bump in the
road (and that's all we see it as, not a roadblock).
I got my first Lupron shot on 12/13 and will continue on a monthly basis for
two more months prior to brachytherephy. So far no hot flashes, although I
think my wife is hoping for one to appear while she is nearby :)
Again, I'd like to thank everyone for giving me some insight and thoughts
for questions to ask my Dr. as part of the decision making process regarding
a treatment protocol.

hi tom - i'll be surprised if you are able to go the two months with no
hot flashes.
look at it as getting in touch with your feminine side. :)
