.....With my wife of 30 years, and no I'm not bragging. I just want to
tell those of you that may be leery of surgery as a treatment, that it's not
necessarily an impotence or death sentence.  I'm 58 and 5 1/2 years post RP.
I still leak a bit now and then, and with vitamin V have a perfectly decent
sex life. Best side effect of the surgery I have is being able to sleep
through the night, and pee like a racehorse.
As is my 5 year routine I want to thank all of you here for
helping, and being there for us all through the years. Have a healthy new
years!

===> congrats JK - on the reasons to bring in the new year.

i can add to what you said about the fear factor and it not being a
death sentence.

i'm 62 years old now and i'm one of those who don't need any ED drugs.
they did a great job on the nerve sparing.   i do have the more stress
incontinence when i have to sit up or bend over to tie my shoes.   but
if i'm going to lift anything,  i'll just go to the bathroom first and
that seems to end the problem of leaking while picking something up.

still have some vietnam issues and don't always make it through the
night without getting up.   CPAP unit has helped me a lot over the past
six months, so i seem to be getting better.

funny about peeing like a race horse.  i remember when i was headed over
to the hospital,  we stopped at every rest area, and my sons were at the
urinals,  so i had to take the stall.  they finished up and as they
walked by the stall, the oldest one said to the other,  he's peeing like
grandpa did.  i yelled back, "hey,  i'm doing the best that i can"

just this week, somehow the conversation got brought up about this and
this same son tells me that i pee better than he does now.   i said,
"well,  you know what i had to do in order to pee better, so......"

yes, indeed,  it is a great new year that we are about to go forward
into and i want to wish everyone the best.   there really is a very good
life after an RP.

Why not?  That is quite an accomplishment.
