You might imagine that the goods are stolen, but I bet they're
not.  I think what's really going on is that they aren't Gucci bags
at all.  The company operates in China - the leading center of
illegal copying and intellectual property theft.

I read a story recently that Samsung introduced a new phone
in Korea and ten months later tried to sell it in China.  They
were too late.  A Chinese company had copied it perfectly
and was already saturating the market with it.  The Koreans,
deciding to make the best of a bad situation, offered jobs to
the Chinese copy artists.  But they weren't interested.  They
were making more money making illegal copies than Samsung
could offer them.  Now Samsung introduces every innovative
technology in China the same day it offers it anywhere else
in order to at least be able to sell it for a couple of months
before the copy artists figure it out and undercut them.
