as previously posted: following PSA increase I underwent to a CAT-PET
scanning with "colina". The results are half good, bone structure is OK but
the report advises to go a further scanning with magnetic resonance in the
abdomen and pelvis zones. My uro prescribed casodex 150mg to be taken daily
for at least 9 months meantime he addressed me to an oncologist for ad
additional opinion/advice.

I'm a little surprised at the Casodex prescription.  I thought LHRH
agonists were the preferred technique for ADT and Casodex was
mostly used to block testosterone uptake during the LHRH flare,
and as a supplement if the LHRH agonist is not providing sufficient
suppression of testosterone.  In fact, I think long term use of 150 mg
of Casodex was recently found to have some dangerous side
effects.

The LHRH agonists are Lupron, Zoladex, Trelstar, and maybe
some other trade names.  Unfortunately of course, they have
side effects too, but I thought current thinking was that they were
a little safer and more effective than high dose Casodex.

The med onc, if he specializes in prostate cancer, may be able to
give you more comprehensive advice.

Good luck.
