was in 2002 when John and Carolyn began posting here.
may God Bless you and your children.

May he rest in peace.  And he was lucky that he had a woman of valor
by his side the whole time.

My sincere condolences to you, your family, and John's friends,
Carolyn. John was lucky to have such a loving and supportive wife as
you have been. May your memories of the life, love and happy times you
shared together bring you peace and console your grief.

Dear Carolyn,

There are no words of comfort and I cannot tell you when the tears will stop
flowing. At least John is no longer in pain. The most difficult thing is
realizing that he's gone. Just gone. He's not there when you need him. He's
not there to snuggle against. He's not there when you need a hug. It's
lonely and all the love, support, and care that children and family try to
provide doesn't fill the big deep hole that John left inside of you.

I'm sorry I did not see this post sooner, but you probably aren't even up to
reading any responses right now. It took me almost a month before I managed
to read the messages left for me. I knew they were on his CarePages, on the
funeral home's site, and out here.

If I can help in any way with the massive amount of paperwork, please ask.
I've chased medical records, argued over car titles, and had to change/drop
names on/from all sorts of things.  Take the time to grieve. I'm still
crying and still trying to put one foot in front of the other.

Thanks, Carolyn, for letting us know.  I've been out of town and apologize
for the late response.

I know you are both relieved and devastated.  I cannot express the extent of
my sorrow for you and your family.

For those who have come here recently and do not know John's story:

John was diagnosed early in 2003 with T4 cancer and 600+ PSA.  They treated
him with Zoladex and went onto a whole mess of other treatments.  He fought
it no less than anyone I've heard of here.  In July 2006 he had a feeding
tube inserted and still fought it.  Finally, it was so bad that the cancer
was ravaging his bone marrow, caused him a slight palsy, and he had mets at
the base of his skull.  About June 2007, he was given weeks to live and he
had a PSA of 1800.  He lived months.
