Peter,
I have been on sick leave from work for 6 weeks and I go back tomorrow
actually, but the 6 weeks is because I had Hernias repaired also along
with the prostate removal. You will need 4 weeks and I am sure the
doctor will till you that. Lifting and such is not an issue in your
case. You just need to recoupe for 4 weeks. Mainly I think because of
the bladder control. It might be an issue and it might not. I know
this sounds crazy but a month before the operation I masturbated every
day sometimes twice a day. I really didn't need the viagra but
sometimes i used it just to stay hard longer. I gave my penis a work
out. And the day after the catheter came out I took a viagra and got a
good erection. When the catheter was still in I could till my penis
was reacting a little every morning when I woke up like it was trying
to have a morning erection.
The erection thing is mainly on the doctor and how he spares your
nerves wraped around the prostate.
The procedure has to be nerve sparing. Depending on how much trama the
nerves get is going to measure your time to get an erection. A friend
of mine went to a diferent doctor than me and after 6 months he still
leaks urine and can't get an erection. I am going to give you a LINK
to a WEBSITE (My Doctor) the very best doctor for this sort of thing.
People fly in from all over the world to go to him.

SEX and the ORGASM.
Things have sure changed there. some things good... and some will take
some time to adapt to.
Of course you will have no semen coming out on orgasm. It for the most
part will be a dry orgasm.
BUT....with me and my bladder empty as it can get... on orgasm I spray
urine. The orgasm is stronger and more intense (a good thing) and I
can actually make an orgasm last a minute or so. If there is pee in my
bladder the more it comes out. I can also make pee come out with an
erection which before it was very hard to do that, now easy.
SO....you are going to have to deal with that....warn the wife. Hope
she works with you and it could be fun.
OH...some precum still comes out on masturbation like before although
Iam not sure where it comes from and why. What body part is
responsible for that. A question for the doctor.
I'll be looking for your response.

If your surgeon is skilled at nerve sparing surgery, at your age, you
stand a good chance of regaining erectile function, but it could take up
to a year or more for that to happen. I was 67 when I had my
prostatectomy, so my chances of regaining erections were significantly
lower than yours. I was impotent for 18 months. Now at age 74 I can do
reasonably well with Viagra and occasionally without anything.
Keep in mind that you can still achieve orgasms without erections and
that you need not cease sexual activity even if you are impotent. Also
there are a variety of ways to treat impotence. I used a pump during
the time I was impotent. Generally speaking, my wife an I have
maintained about the same level of sexual activity as before surgery.
Given our age and various physical infirmities, we are doing reasonably
well.
The experience may be somewhat different, but if you are creative and
work at it, you should be able to maintain a satisfying sex life for
both you and your wife. Also, some things my take time, so just be
patient and don't give up.
> I love to Kayak and be out side, have you been able to be the outdoors

After about six weeks, I was able to do pretty much anything I could do
before surgery. It is possible you may have to urinate more often than
you did before, so you may find you want to use pads when you are out
for a long time without an opportunity to relieve yourself. In my case,
I found I could go longer than before, but still not as long as when I
was younger, so I do occasionally use pads in such circumstances.

There will be some period of time after surgery when you will be
incontinent. At your age, if your surgeon is skilled, it should not be
too long, but it can vary a lot from person to person. You just wear
pads during this time, and for most people it is not a problem. You
just have to replace them as needed.

Probably not.
