Hello To All.
My name is Chris and I am single and 60 y/o. It is just 6 weeks ago I
had a Laparoscopic Robotic Prostatectomy and I will share my
experience and how i am recovering with anyone and offer any advice
for anyone who has questions, male or female and be very open about
it.
Just ask me and I will answer. I'll even get on cam and show you my 5
scars and will share any sexual questions for female or male and be
honest about it.
I am from the Tampabay area and will recomend the best possible Doctor
to have this procedure done.

Hello Chris,
I just made my appointment for Dr Samadi in NYC to the robotic op myself. I
will ask you a few questions now and will probably have some more B4 and
then some after.
I hope everthing came out ok...I dont know if that was a pun or not, I guess
I mean it both ways.
My numbers are:
PSA 5.2
Gleason 6 (3 + 3)
T1c
I did my research and I think- hope I made the best choice. Is it to early
to ask about your issues of continence and erectile function? I can imagine
your hopes...I hope you are happy!
My surgery is Oct. 13
Got to run now I just checked these postings and saw yours, thanks for the
offer of help. I find this newsgroup a great thing but sometimes a personal
e mail is more efficient. My addy is
plangham@hvc.rr.com
I sometimes lose the thread and miss the postings I bet yours will be right
on and I will look foreward to hearing from you.
As I get ready for the winter here in the NY Catskill mountains I will wish
for you to still keep cool, I will hope to keep warm myself. I don't know if
I will be up for loading wood in the wood stove as I recouperate. ;-)
Peter - Thanks for the info. offer

Welcome back, Chris. I remember you coming on before and telling us of your
July 20 surgery.
I'd like to know -- generally, we'd all like to know -- your PSA, Gleason,
and Stage. Some would like to know how you came to be diagnosed and others
would like to know your current incontinence and impotence issues; if any.

Hi Guys,
Peter & Steve, & anyone else who is reading.
Steve, I believe you have me mixed up with another Chris, so from now
on I'll be "Florida Chris" since I live in Florida.
My surgery was on 8-14-07 last month.
I am aprox. 6 weeks after surgery.
I actually had two procedures done.
A Laparoscopic Robotic Prostatectomy & Limp Node Dissection, (removal
of the prostate & biospy of limp nodes)
Also: Bilateral Inguinal Hernia Repair by another doctor using the
same incessions. (I had 2 Hernias)
MY VIEW: First off I want to tell all you guys, this group is a great
thing....BUT...
By reading what is going on with everyone here concerning this
Prostate Cancer and what are all the options got me very confused and
my anxiety got so high hoping what is going on with some people here
is not going to happen to me.
Prior to my operation my PSA was going up and down from as high as 10
to as low as 2.9.
So I had a Biospy and it showed:
Gleason Score, 3+3=6 showing Cancer confined to the prostate only.
With a score of 6 or 7 which is border line that the Cancer is just on
the Prostate only. But, my situation was, I wish I had the Biospy done
a year prior then I would of had more options and time to think about
this whole mess. As it was, I found out and had the operation done the
next month. SO......Now, right after the operation I woke up with a
Catheter in me, my first! and I was in the Hospital 2 days, the norm
is 1 day, but I was having pain due to the Hernia repair so they kept
me in another day on Morphine.
2 weeks passed and it was time to have the Catheter removed and a
time, thanks to reading in this group, I was not looking forward to.
My anxiety was so high wondering if I was going to have any control
over my urine flow. Having to wear a diaper and such.
OK...the nurse at the doctors office took the Catheter out and the
doctor gave me an ultra sound to see if my bladder was empty. It was.
It was 9am then and the doctor wanted me to go walk around the mall
and just be as active as I could and drink water and come back at
1:30 to see how my bladder was working. I was amased to report to the
doctor that I had about 90% control of my bladder. I could pee and
stop it in mid streem and could empty my bladder good and my urine was
just not comming out without my control. I did notice if I tried to
release gas (fart) a little urine would come out, just dribbles
though. SO...As the days passed my Continence got better and now after
6 weeks, if my bladder is full I still can't fart without just a
little dribble. I only wore a diaper 1 day, that first day afetr they
pulled the Catheter. I WAS VERY LUCKY with that issue.
NOW...with IMPOTENCE.....Thats another long story but a good one and I
will continue if you guys want me to.
Remember guys.....Take what you read in this group and try not to get
upset by it like I did, everyones body makeup is different and alot of
things come in to play here.. like.
Age, Weight, and how good of shape you are in, are you able to get an
erection now and how often and how active you are with your penis. How
Healthy you are. Any Bladder issues and the list gos on.
I am and was very active since I still work and very active and
sometimes labor intensive in my job out side in a nature habitat.
I am 6 ft 210 lbs, and not to much over weight. I walk 2 miles in 30
minutes, a job requirement and not easy to do.
I do not have high blood pressure, which is a plus.
Hope I am not boreing you guys........

>Hi Guys,
Hi Florida Chris, good to see you're in high spirits and on the mend.
Don't worry too much about the farting - I'm sure you'll be able to
fart splendidly after a bit of practise.....:-) A lot depends on
whether you're pushing or easing them out! - N.B. - Kegels (allegedly
beneficial) and farting don't mix.

Ok, so now I have to worry about another of life's pleasures being
impacted by my diagnosis. no more inflammatory farting without
personal consequences. What a bitch!
I qm only 44 and resent consequential farts. One should be able to
fart with wild abandon, especially after marriage. This clearly sucks,
even more so with my recent beer and beans diet.
Oh well, does anybody know of a really good set of sphinchter free
weights. Is there a Kegel Bowflex machine or do you need to get a
personal trainer for this?
Florida Chris - 25 Sep 2007 11:51 GMT
Rosbif............
Thanks for the heads up!
Kinda funny though.....good to have a sence of humor here.
I did the Kegals way before the operation and still do them.
By the way guys. The Kegal exercise should be done if you are not doing
them already.
