What is your experience with pain levels after having the RP?
What about waking pain and sleeping comfort immediately after, and as time
passes over the first week or two?
Did you need prescription pain meds or did Tylenol work for you?  A friend
of mine said he had no pain at all afterwards.  That seems so odd, as I have
had surgeries and none of them were pain free.

Thanks,
Steve Tew

Scheduled for RP with the Davinci machine on 18 September.

I had an epidural and general during the surgery.  After the surgery, I had
an epidural for a day or so.  Then I went on IV pain meds.  By the 4th day
or so, I asked them to take me off the meds because I didn't like the way
they made me feel.

I never had pain except for a sneeze at my home about Day 10.

Steve,
What surgery did you have?  I see RRP in your sig.  Is that the RP with the
cut down the belly?

Thanks,
Steve Tew

That is correct.  Robotic LRP was not widely available in 2000.

I had the RP with Davinci.  They shot me with IV laced with painkiller
while I was in the hospital after the surgery.  That was from about
mid afternoon on the day of surgery, thru that night, and then to just
after noon the next day.  They removed the IV around noon for
discharge.  Other then Tylenol with codeine, that was the last of the
pain killer.  I took some of the Tylenol off and on for maybe the next
2 or 3 days.  After that there was never enough pain that I used
anything but there was discomfort, especially if I was sitting, that
continued for at least a month.
