On September 7-9, the Prostate Cancer Research Institute will sponsor a
conference in Los Angeles. See http://prostate-cancer.org/index.html
The medics who will speak there are the cream of the crop of PCa
specialists.
To me, it is virtually incredible that not one word about this has been
published on this NG. Does no one care? Is no one aware of it? If that
is the case, how can we on this NG claim to be PCa activists?
Moreover: PCRI has for some reason decided that they will not offer DVDs
of conference presentations, a terrible departure from history.
Here is a copy of my note to them, if anyone cares:
> Here is the relevant portion of PCRI's mission statement:
>
> "Provide information based upon peer-reviewed medical research,
> literature, and reputable studies that will enable the patient to
> knowledgeably participate with his health care team in developing the
> best individual treatment strategy."

Hi Steve,
First, I have not heard about it!
I am too busy working, making payments to Blue Cross of Calif. and paying
taxes and high prices of fuel, needless to say watching the government
stumble over itself in Iraq.
I do care, and as a cancer survivor and optomist, just had my 8 year PSA
blood test drawn. Just waiting for results.
Sounds lame that they do not have DVD's available.
You think they could get some made and sell them for a profit to help fund
research.........hum.
Actually "I hate to use the word "they".
It takes time and energy to do that and "someone has to deal with it".

I've been posting PCRI news for some time and have never heard any feedback.
That one arrived in my inbox and I said, "The heck with it."

A pity.

Considering how surprised most doctors and nurses are when we drop a
word like "mets" or "Gleason" or "systolic", and considering their
expressions and even comments when we mention the word, "internet", I
don't think people in white coats understand how much some patients know
-- and/or want to know -- about medicine.
