I just got around to reading this article.  I work as a computer
programmer at the National Cancer Institute and found an
email sent out to all on the NCI email list from the director
of the institute recommending the article.

It's pretty good.

Among other things, it reports that:

  Cancer care is terribly uneven in the U.S.

  Doctors often give conflicting advice.

  Aggressive treatment is often not pursued when it should be.
