Greetings to all my fellow club members. As an infrequent correspondent ,
I am again making my annual report.
I have been on Zoladex since about Oct 2001 after Cryosurgery on Dec 22,
2000.
Preops Gleason 6 (3&3)and T1C.PSA was 9. After 2mos follow up,PSA was .2
, then 6mos
follow up PSA was 7.1 . The Cryosurgery never naidered. At that time I
had  11 needle sticks in the prostate all
of which were negative. A CT scan and Bone scan were conducted, all
negative.Casaodex and Zoladex then followed as treatment plan.. Casodex was
dropped after a year and one half. Zoladex and PSA measurement continues
every
3mos.PSA has dropped to undetectable levels as measured by the Bayer
chemiluminescent method. However in Dec 2006 PSA was 0.1, March 2007
again 0.1. However
at last visit reverted back to undetectable.
I was on Fosamax until March 2005. A DEXA indicated normal and Fosamax
was dropped.
However March 2007 another DEXA, back on Fosamax. But I may have to
have Dental work in the future.
So, do I suffer toothaches or weak bones ? . I wonder what my options are!

If Ed continued on ADT, that was probably ill-advised.

Options might not be limited to the above.

The incidence of osteonecrosis for patients on bisphosphonates who
undergo "deep" dental procedures is small. But if it occurs, it is
incurable (though treatable).

And as I understand it, ONJ (osteonecrosis of the jaw) occurs *only*
when the jawbone is damaged during a dental procedure, typically an
extraction. And even then it is rare.

So the choice does not narrow down to osteonecrosis OR "weak" bones.

Here, from the website of the FDA, is detailed information:
