Now THAT just amazes me.
I don't know where/how Alex gets his ideas.
I have NEVER physically assaulted ANY of my kids, even when they deserved
smacking, it was always sent to their room without supper.
If having a blow-out twice a year makes me an alkie, maybe I am. I suppose
Alex is teetotal and has no personal devils?
I taught all my boys how to box and wrestle.Alan himself joined a boy's
boxing club, so that's how he learned to throw a punch.
ABUSE? - WHY would he WANT to come and stay with me rather than his
Mum? - - - So that I could abuse him?
Emotional abuse (If childish behaviour can be called that) happened a few
times, yes, but only with my second wife and then it was a constant tit for
tat, her doing things like snipping my fishing lines, puttting smelly wet
cloths into my waders so they stank, deliberately overseasoning food to the
point it could not be eaten, etc, etc. What I did back was mild in
comparison, like putting vinegar in her cologne vaporiser. The truce only
came about with the divorce. OK it WAS childish.
I have only EVER been in ONE fisticuffs when I was drunk and that was
someone who picked on me with no provocation. He wished he hadn't. My twice
a year binges only began three years ago LONG after I started living alone
in retirement - so I dont think ANY of my kids EVER saw me drunk, not even
at New Years, the only time I allowed alcohol in the house.
I'm not an angry, pitiful drunk (irrational, yes) I'm a jolly, dancing,
singing, howling at the Moon drunk. TWICE a YEAR. And I don't think being
drunk is "Cute" It makes me ill for a week afterwards.
Alan is my crutch now, he knows it too. I already allow him too much leeway.
HE bullies ME, not the other way round. He's pretty good at emotional
blackmail too. Unfortunately, it's HIM that's got the temper. (I only had a
bad hangover and he was provoking me with loud playing of Acid Rock which I
hate.)
I don't mind that he popped me. It shows he wont put up with nonsense. Even
from his dad. He didn't really hurt me apart from the tooth, which was loose
anyway. Perhaps he did me a favour. He did when he threw the other bottle
down the garbage.
Last night, HE made ME a meal (not great but OK) and we sat and laughed at
old Laurel & Hardy films. Do people who abuse each other do that? I hardly
think so.
So, please Alex, tuck your fingers up your a.s the next time you want to
have a little tirade. Think first and have some knowledge before you put
words on a page. Thanks.
Why I even bothered responding to this, I don't know.

Hugh,
If, despite periodically getting so "howl-at-the-moon" drunk that you are
ill for a week, you are not an alcoholic, then I apologize.

Alex, you really know how to twist things don't you? PERIODICALLY? Twice a
YEAR you facetious laddie. You wanna try singing romantic songs to the moon
yourself and chill out.
I begin to suspect that in your own past there have historically been some
instances of the behaviour you describe, the passion you displayed. If
there was, I'm sorry for you. Really. Did you get treatment? But I shouldn't
judge....
Now I havta get ready for work. No more of this. OK?
H.K.

I now have my head out the window, singing romantic songs to the moon. Three
cats have joined in, screeching, and they sound better than I do.
God bless, Hugh, enjoy your work, and good health to you. Agreed, no more of
this.
