I know this is an out of group question.
I have recently had the robotic and so I have followed some of your
discussions.
Now my wife needs hip replacement. I have looked but can't find a group for
this.
If any of you know of such a group I would be extremly appreciative.

Hello, Ron:
You might want to check out alt.support.arthritis -- that might be what
Claude was writing about. I just checked it out; got 1600+ hits on a
search of hip replacement. Google lists it as high activity (a.s.c.p is
listed at medium). I saw a few familiar handles there, too.

A number of years ago, I participated in an arthritis support group. I
imagine if you google groups for "arthritis", you will find it. I'm sure
there are a number of people who have had hip replacements who post in it.

Try this group. It's been helpful in the past.

I searched and found nothing on my news server.
However, my mom has had slightly less than a dozen, so if you have any
questions, I don't hide behind a munged email addy.

I can't help you with the group, Ron but I can send a bit of joy and
hope your wife's way.
My father turned 90 on June 30th. On July 6th he had a total
replacement of his left hip. Orthopod said it was one of the worst he's
seen and he's probably been cutting and mending for about 30 plus years.
Dad's slowly coming back to normal and he's not walking yet - hell, he's
had all kinds of health problems over the past year and has been
confined to a wheel chair and walker for almost a year and a half.
Regardless, he no longer has the joint pain.
Oh, yeah, ready for this? As bad as it was, the surgeon did the job in
38 minutes.
It took my dentist almost that long to fully anesthetize me for a root
canal. Incredible!

Ron, alt.support.arthritis is the group I've hung out in for 18 or more
years.
I was diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis in 1976, had a THR(L) in 2000,
and will have THR(R) on July 23rd.
Yesterday I had the 1st orientation at the hospital and made a autologous
blood donation to have standing by if needed. Next Tuesday I have 2 doctor
appointments scheduled - my PCP and the surgeon.
Here are 2 URL's for you and your wife - the 1st for the knee, the 2nd for
the hip.
If you have a strong stomach, view the actual surgery vs. the a-v effects.
