Radiation therapy (seeds & external). Last session of external 30 May.
Difficult urination - Hard to get started & a lot of discomfort before
stream started for about the last two weeks.
I read a post (but, can't locate it again) in this newsgroup in which
a gentleman reported a similar problem unrinating. He mentioned that
1/3 of a cup of dry roasted unsalted peanuts resolved (or minimized)
his trouble. He also indicated that he determined the amount (1/3 cup)
based on his body weight of 165 lbs.
I read the post, but was skeptical. It just sounded too easy a fix.
Consequently I dismissed the information for the time being.
During a trip to the kitchen I found I had some dry roasted (but
salted) peanuts sitting on the shelf. I thought, "What the heck", and
pored out 1/3 of a cup and ate them. Although I weigh 195 (about 30
lbs. more than the original poster) the 1/3 of a cup each day seems to
work fine for me.
I was amazed. The relief was almost immediate. It's been almost three
full days with a minimal amount of discomfort when urinating. And, no
hesitation when starting. I hope the peanuts continue to provide
relief.
My sincere "Thanks" to the gentleman who originally posted the
information.

I tried them once, long before my prostate surgery.
The damn things kept falling out of my boxer shorts.

Hello:
Check out the thread " Broccoli-Tomato Cocktail Goes Head-to-Head with
Best Std. Therapies" from January. Jeff_B posted the peanuts thing.

Your welcome, and I should add that taking the peanuts (unsalted is
preferred, less sodium) an hour befroe bedtime works best....my psa
went down 6 points!! and will be verified again this week!! or
not!! but the flow and sleeping through just gets better and
better!!! the amount isn't based on my weight, but rather on two fist
fulls of "in the shell peanuts (a pain to open constantly) and then
quantified by counting and just filling a measure cup, which in my
case was 1/3 of a cup.....it's 170 calories but worth every calorie
for the results jb6000@comcast.net jeff

This thread was interesting to me.
I had seeds and IMRT through Jan 3rd this year. As I have posted
before, I bought some Flomax but never needed to take it. It turns out
that I have had a habit of eating some salted mixed nuts every night
before I go to bed. I've been doing this for years. There may be some
corelation.
